Alfred Ishmael Akibo-Betts is a highly accomplished finance, taxation, and public financial management expert with over 21 years of professional experience, including more than 14 years in senior leadership roles. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone (FCA) and holds an MPhil in Taxation from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Akibo-Betts previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Sierra Leone’s National Revenue Authority and as a Senior Tax Expert with the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF). He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of The Betts Firm and Project Lead of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) Freetown Blue Peace Initiative, where he leads innovative financing and development projects across West Africa.
He possesses extensive expertise in taxation, revenue mobilization, public financial management, strategic planning, organizational reform, and governance. Having served numerous public and private sector boards and committees.
He was appointed to the Board of Access Bank (SL) Limited on the 23rd June 2026
