Michala Mackay is a Sierra Leonean born on 26th February 1974.
She is a Chief Operating Officer and Director with 20 years of experience working in both the public and private sectors to improve corporate governance, transparency, and the rule of law in Sierra Leone. Experience leading, designing, and implementing policy, strategic plans, and programs. Experienced administrator and project lead with a proven track record of aligning organizational vision to growth opportunities and seeking to apply extensive experience to new and challenging growth-oriented sectors.
She holds an MBA in leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria Robert Kennedy College, Zürich, Switzerland (2017). She also holds a Postgraduate Certification in Information Technology & Telecommunications Law, from the University of Strathclyde Law School, Glasgow (2009). Added to this, she holds a Bar Final Certificate from the Council of Legal Education, Sierra Leone Law School (2002), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London (External Programme), Holborn College, London (1999). Also, she holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) 1996, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, Freetown, Sierra Leone.
She has served as the CEO & Registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission, where she managed key stakeholder in the establishment of the Corporate Affairs Commission. Responsible for training and recruiting staff and managed a team of 20 people. Defined processes and procedures for the operations of the Commission that improved business. Provided technical expertise in developing Sierra Leone's first-ever handbook for Investors and Directors to promote corporate governance.
She has also served as the Director & Chief Operating Officer at the Directorate of Science, Technology & Innovation (DSTI) State Avenue Freetown, Sierra Leone where she performed a host of functions such as driving the organizational vision, operational strategy, and talent acquisition and also led coordination with international partners, donors, and national stakeholders to implement Sierra Leone's National Innovation and Digitization Strategy among others.
Furthermore, she was also the Director of Legal and Licensing at the National Telecommunications Commission, Hill Station, Freetown, Sierra Leone.
